Women’s Health Tips for the Everyday Woman

The modern woman does way more nowadays than ever before. She could be a high-power executive running a fortune 500 company in the heart of New York, she could be ranking up in the military over the good old boys, or she could the proud mom of some great kids trying to keep the best house in the neighborhood. No matter where you fall on the enormous spectrum of what it means to be an everyday woman in the 21st century, one thing that ties them all together is an importance on remaining healthy.

Staying in the best of health ensures that you can still do all of the amazing things you do on a regular basis without being held back. If you need some extra tips on staying on top and keeping yourself feeling your absolute best, look no farther than the tips below to get you started.

1. Don’t Skip the Water
Everyone knows that it’s important to stay hydrated, but what makes it such a key point for health experts everywhere? To start, your body needs it every day just to perform its basic functions and not only that, but the majority of your body is made up of water, too. Every one of your cells is made up of water, so staying hydrated means that those building blocks can work together at their best capacity. Water also regulates our internal temperature, lubricates your joints, and even acts as a shock absorber for things like the brain. If you struggle to drink enough water, consider other hydrating beverages like herbal teas or juice to help yourself meet that daily quota.

2. Incorporate Whole Foods into Your Everyday Meals
Just below literally breathing air and drinking water, eating is necessary to stay healthy. Unfortunately, body image can be a huge struggle that many women deal with their entire life and according to a national survey about 97% of women say they do struggle with how they look. It doesn’t have to be a battle though – you can still eat the things you love, but consider making better choices to keep your body healthy.

Eating more whole foods, or food that is minimally processed like fresh produce or raw grains, fuels you with more vitamins and antioxidants than their manufactured counterparts. Doing this can allow you to be more creative with your meals, so you enjoy them more, and also keep you feeling great by consuming food that isn’t riddled with preservatives, extra sugars, and who knows what else.

3. Make Mental Health a Priority
Depression is twice as common in women than it is in men, and PTSD statistic show that women are the largest group effected by this disorder overall. That doesn’t mean that every woman will be diagnosed with a mental illness, but it does mean that being a woman statistically means you are more likely to experience or develop one in your lifetime.

So, it’s a factor in your everyday health that cannot be ignored. Taking time to participate in things that you love, and maybe used to do way more often, can be hard but once you set those habits, it is so worthwhile. Signing up for a pottery class, reading a chapter in a new book, or simply going for a walk in your favorite park are all little things you can do for yourself to ultimately keep your mind healthy and lower your stress levels, too.
