There is no doubt that dentures are a great help to people who have lost their teeth. Simply put, dentures act as false teeth and act just like real teeth. With the help of dentures, people can have a comfortable life and can help them enjoy the food that they want. There are different types of dentures. There are a few which are removable and the others are fixed in the mouth. While dentures are highly helpful, some people might find it uncomfortable.

If you are a person who is uncomfortable with your false teeth, then you need to do dental relining or rebasing. Denture relining is regularly done to people whenever they feel uncomfortable with their dentures. With the help of denture relining, you can ensure that the dentures fit better in the mouth and feel more natural. So, it is important to understand the different types of denture relining services to not be comfortable with your dentures. The three main types of denture relining are

Hard Relining

It is important to understand that your dentures will not have the same fit forever because your mouth tissues are constantly changing. Therefore, they need to be relined to ensure both a proper fit and comfort. During hard relining, the dentist will focus on getting a new measurement for dentures by removing one part of the denture. The dentist will use a putty to determine the new gum and tissue impressions. This impression will be used to create a new gum base for your denture to ensure perfect fit. A hard reline is much more durable but it might cause discomfort in some cases. It also needs to be revisited after two years.

Soft Relining

Some people might experience pain and discomfort with their dentures immediately after getting the false teeth. In this case, the dentist will scrape off some of the hard material that is used as gum base and fill them up with a softer and more forgiving material. This ensures better comfort for people and helps them get comfortable with their dentures. One of the drawbacks of soft relining is that it needs to be reworked after a few years.

Temporary Relining

In addition to soft relining, you can also opt for temporary relining when you feel soreness or pain in your gums. In specific instances, your gums can even become swollen and cause severe irritation. In these cases, a temporary relining will offer the most comfort. In temporary relining, the hard materials for the gum base will be scraped off and filled with a very soft and pliable material to ensure the maximum comfort. This material will be much softer than the ones used in soft relining to help improve your gums and mouth condition faster. Therefore, a temporary reline allows your mouth to heal faster and go back to your normal state. Typically, temporary relining is either done before a hard reline or fixing a completely new denture, and it needs to be revisited in a matter of months.

All these three types of Denture Relines methods will be highly helpful if you have irritations because of your false teeth. For more details, you can also check Complete Denture Care.
