How does a cigalike battery connect to its prefilled cartridge?

Cigarlike batteries are connected to their prefilled cartridges through a screw thread in the top of the battery terminal, where the cartridge base rotates clockwise until it contacts the battery directly. That contact point allows current to travel from the battery cell into the heating element inside the cartridge, the moment the draw sensor fires. Ezee Cigalike devices use this thread connection across their cartridge range, keeping attachment and removal straightforward across every cartridge replacement throughout the battery lifespan.

Thread connection mechanics

Screw threads on cigalike devices follow a standardised pitch in most compact rechargeable formats. Battery terminal thread and cartridge base thread are matched at manufacture, so the two components engage smoothly from the first rotation without forcing or cross-threading. Rotating the cartridge clockwise tightens the connection progressively until the cartridge base contacts the battery terminal directly.

That direct contact is the electrical connection. Current passes from the battery cell through the terminal into the cartridge base and onward to the heating coil inside. No intermediate connector, no adapter, and no additional component sits between the battery and the cartridge in this contact arrangement. Thread engagement and electrical contact happen simultaneously as the cartridge is rotated into position.

  • Clockwise rotation tightens the cartridge onto the battery terminal progressively with each turn.
  • Direct metal contact between the cartridge base and the battery terminal completes the circuit when attached.
  • Thread pitch is matched between battery and cartridge at manufacture to prevent cross-threading.
  • Counterclockwise rotation releases the cartridge from the terminal when replacement is needed.

Cartridge base construction

Inside the cartridge base sits the lower end of the heating coil, which connects to the external contact point that presses against the battery terminal when the cartridge is screwed on. Surrounding the coil connection is the sealed cartridge casing, which encloses the e-liquid reservoir and wick material entirely. No liquid contacts the thread or the battery terminal during normal attachment.

Cartridge base diameter matches battery terminal diameter across compatible product ranges, keeping the assembled device uniform in width from battery body through to cartridge tip. This dimensional consistency is part of what gives cigalike devices their characteristic appearance, where battery and cartridge together form one continuous narrow tube rather than two visibly different components joined at a visible seam.

Current path during a draw

When the draw sensor detects airflow during an inhale, the battery circuit closes and current travels from the cell through the battery terminal into the cartridge base contact point. From there, it moves through the coil wire, generating heat as resistance builds along the coil length. That heat vaporises e-liquid drawn up through the wick from the reservoir above the coil.

Vapour travels downward through the cartridge air channel toward the mouthpiece and into the user’s mouth during the inhale. Airflow through the sensor channel continues for the duration of the draw and stops once it reaches zero. Thread connection between battery and cartridge stays passive throughout this process, simply maintaining the contact point that allows the circuit to function each time a draw activates the sensor.
