Hearing loss is sometimes a permanent disorder and increases over time. It defines as the disability of any person to hear because of loud noises and other reasons. People who have hearing loss disorder are unable to listen to thresholds of 20dB. This threshold is approved by World Health Organization (WHO). Usually, it is challenging to limit hearing loss, but there are some ways to stop hearing loss. Let’s take a look at some ideas to prevent hearing loss.

Avoid loud noises

There are specific degrees of loudness that are unbearable for people with hearing loss.

  • Whispering – 30dB
  • Chat and communication – 60dB
  • Rush traffic – 70 to 85dB
  • Heavy bikes – 90dB
  • Full volume listening music– 100 to 110dB
  • Taking off plane’s voice – 120dB

If you need to shout due to the noise around you, it means it must be too loud to hear and bear. If you can’t understand what other people say near you, that means the voices or sounds near you are too much to eavesdrop on.,

Limit sound

It is necessary to limit sound around you and leave the place where the noise is too unbearable to hear. Some people have a phobia to listen to ambulance voices or police car’s voices which means the noise is not so harsh but unbearable for that person. The best option is to avoid such noises that disturb your mind. The connection of ear and mind gets disturbed, which leads to long-lasting hearing loss.

Protect hearing during loud events

There are many places where you can’t avoid going. Few ways for the escape to protect your hearing during loud events such as clubs, parties, sports stadiums, etc.,

  • Stay away from loudspeakers and any other source of loud noises.
  • Try to use earplugs- even re-usable musician’s earplugs also help you out in such situations but reducing the volume of the music without muffling it.
  • You need to take 18 hours break from loud noises if you have had an event where you have already listen to so many loud voices.
  • If you have to stay at any noisy place, try to give yourself a 15 minutes break every hour.

Use hearing protection

Wear hearing protection before going to any loud event or place.

You can use earplugs or earmuffs that are composed of rubber or foam. Earplugs can lower noises by 15 to 30 decibels and directly protect your ear canal. If you want to quieter the sounds without distorting them, you can go for earplugs that reduce across all frequencies.

Remove earwax

The proper wax buildup can muffle sounds in your ear. Many people use a cotton swab to clean and actually push the wax in-depth instead of removing it out, which is harmful. There is a kit available for at-home irrigation to clean the wax gently and soften it before cleaning. It might be recommended by doctors who treat your hearing loss.

Bottom line

If you avoid your hearing problems, it will get worse and turns into complete hearing loss. Preventions are better than cure, and every person should adopt the best prevention for their hearing protection.
