Substance abuse is one of the most common woe among the population. A majority of population believes that substance abuse can not be treated, but it is not true at all. In fact, this problem is treatable through different approaches. Undeniably, the goal of every treatment is to acquire proper and complete recovery.

Of course, it is not advisable to rely on the one type of treatment because patient does not have to recover from physical dependence but from the psychological dependence as well. So, there are various services that can be given to the patient to ensure complete recovery.

There are multiple type of treatment options that can be chosen depending upon treating person.

  1. Vocational rehabilitation
  2. Parenting instruction
  3. Family therapy
  4. Legal and social therapy
  5. Medication
  6. Psychotherapy

Each and every treatment is completely different from one another. It also depends upon the patient’s needs and body demands. On a broader viewpoint, the treatment approach is divided into main two types such as short term and long term treatment.

Short term treatments usually lasts for not more than 6 months. No matter what treatment patient gets, it will be completed with 6 months only. Although, it can be extended for more than 6 months if patient wants it. Medical detoxification is one of the biggest part of this treatment approach.

Long term treatments usually lasts for more than a year or two or even it can be extended beyond this. It usually involves outpatient treatment, maintenance therapy, withdrawal treatment, residential segment treatment, sunrise native recovery and a lot more.

If you want to know the best treatment, then there is no one because the treatment varies from patient to patient and it is never advisable to choose a single approach for every single patient. In fact, a combination therapy should always be selected as per the patient’s body requirements. Lastly, support therapy plays a vital role in ensuring the complete recovery of the patient because support from the family and friends is not less than any therapy for the patient’s abstinence from the drug abuse.
